WALKING RUGBY

CRICKHOWELL CROCS

Thought your playing days were over? Think again!

Walking Rugby is here for you. Any age / any ability / any gender. ALL WELCOME!

As the name suggests, running is forbidden as is passing the ball higher than shoulder height. There are also no high tackles – or indeed any tackles – and, crucially, no scrums, rucks or mauls, making it perfect for all abilities!

However, don’t be fooled by the sedentary title – many have rolled their eyes and smirked at the mention of the format only to find out very quickly that walking at pace is very physically demanding and fast tracking backwards when defending and to remain on side tests even the most muscular and agile of legs!

Training is from6pm to 7pm on Mondays – all year long. As long as the light allows, we meet at Parc Broyd, home of Crickhowell Rugby. When the evenings get darker we transfer to under floodlights on the all-weather pitch at Crickhowell High School. just as important is the chat and banter over a drink for an hour or so after training – mental as well as physical health benefits result. The camararadie and friendship among the group is quite brilliant. Don’t just take our word for it – come and see for yourself – Mondays at 6:00 pm, Parc Broyd or Crickhowell High School.

Started in August 2019, Crick Crocs is one of the longest established walking rugby set ups in Wales and dare we say it, one of the leading exponents of the game in Wales and the West Country with over 30 members regularly participating. We attend as many festivals as we can raise teams for and each May host our own very successful festival in conjunction with the Mini and Junior section of the club – The Crocs and Tots Festival.
